Sports Radar

Sports Radar Ltd. has built speed measurement instruments in Homosassa, Florida since the 1990s, and the line still carries the same practical focus: point it, pull the trigger, read the number. Their radar guns are used for pitching speed, bat and club swing speed, serve speed and general motion timing, and every gun is made in the USA and backed by a one year limited warranty.

Two families cover most of what coaches need. The SR3600 and SR3800 run on 9V batteries and add a data port that feeds an LED display or a computer, with the SR3800 reading both pitch speed and plate speed on a single pull. The SRA3000 Tracer family runs on AAA cells and adds a Quick Read mode built for measuring bat and club swing speed, plus average speed recall.

What sets this brand apart is the rest of the system. Sports Radar builds the red LED speed displays, the detector units that mount permanently in a cage or booth, and the matched kits that pair a gun with a display, cable and mount in one package. That makes it a practical choice for a school, a training facility or a speed pitch setup where the number needs to be visible to a crowd and not just to the person holding the gun.

Low speed variants are worth knowing about. The LS models read down to around 4 MPH and the ULS model reads down to 0.5 MPH, which puts youth pitching, fastpitch softball and slow motion work inside the measurable range where a standard gun simply reads nothing.
