Speed Pitch Display Systems

A speed pitch display system puts the radar reading where everyone can see it. Instead of one coach squinting at a handheld gun, a red LED speed board mounted behind the plate shows the number to the pitcher, the parents and the line of kids waiting their turn. That is what turns a radar gun into an attraction, a fundraiser or a genuine training tool for a whole team.

Every system here is built from three parts. A radar gun or a fixed detector unit measures the pitch. A cable carries both the reading and the power. A red LED display shows the speed in digits sized for the viewing distance you need, from 4 inch digits for an indoor cage up to 18 inch digits readable across a field.

Choosing a Display Size

The 4 inch board suits indoor cages, tables and tight spaces. The 8 inch board is the common choice for a booth or a batting cage where a small crowd is watching. The 12 inch and 18 inch boards are for fields, gyms and events where the number has to carry across real distance.

One decision matters more than size. A two digit display stops at 99, so any reading of 100 MPH or more cannot be shown. If high school, college or adult pitching is in scope, choose a display that reads up to 199.

Kits Versus Building Your Own

The matched kits pair a gun and a display with the cable and mount already sorted, and in most cases they cost less than buying the same parts separately. Building your own makes sense when you already own a compatible gun or need a cable run longer than the standard 25 feet.

Detector units are the other path. A detector has no trigger and no screen of its own, mounts permanently in a booth or cage, and draws its power from the display over a single cable. For a fixed installation that runs unattended, it is the cleaner answer than a handheld gun.
