The Gun and the Display Work as One System
The SR3600 carries a RadarDataPort, a serial output that pushes every reading down the included 25 foot RJ45 cable to the DL431-R display at 1200 baud. There is no app, no pairing and no wireless link to lose. Plug the cable in at both ends, power the display, and the speed lands on the board at the same moment it lands on the gun's own 3 digit LCD.
When the board needs to sit further away, shielded RJ45 extenders in 25 and 50 foot lengths stack to a 100 foot maximum run with a coupler at each join. The display can also pull its power from the gun through that same cable, which takes one outlet out of the setup. That arrangement caps the run at 50 feet, requires the gun to be on external power rather than batteries, and can step display brightness down.
Why This Is the Kit for Inflatable Speed Pitch
The SR3600 reads a baseball out to about 60 feet, and inside an inflatable speed pitch game that short reach is the feature rather than the limitation. A longer range gun keeps looking past the target and picks up movement off the inflatable structure and whatever sits behind it, which puts numbers on the board that have nothing to do with the pitch that was just thrown. A 60 foot ceiling keeps the gun's attention on the throw and the target.
The SRDL-38-KIT is not compatible with inflatable games for exactly that reason. If the booth is an inflatable, this is the kit to buy. If the setup is an open outdoor field with the operator standing well back from the plate, the -38 kit is the right tool instead.
What the 4 Inch Display Adds
The DL431-R lights three 4 inch red LED digits and reads up to 999, so no pitch is going to run it out of room. In shaded light the digits stay legible from roughly 200 feet, and the viewing angle is wide enough that a line of people standing off to one side still gets the number.
This is the indoor and shaded area board in the line. LED digits wash out in direct sunlight, the enclosure is not waterproof and the power supply is built for indoor use, so plan on a cage, a gym, a tent or a covered booth. A 1/4-20 thread sits on the bottom of the case and two hanging brackets sit on the back. The included table top stand covers the most common setup of all, which is the board propped on a table beside the line.
Running the SRDL-36-KIT With One Person
The gun has two modes. Trigger mode reads on demand. Continuous mode runs hands free from a tripod, which is how a single player clocks their own throws, and it holds a three second gap between readings so a catcher's throw back does not get counted as a pitch. The gun threads onto any standard 1/4-20 camera tripod, and a 52 inch tripod is available separately.
An audible tone confirms each capture so nobody has to watch the screen, and the gun's own readout flashes when the batteries run down. Holding the trigger while powering the gun on switches the reading between MPH and Km/H.
