About the Zone Hitter Swing Path Trainer
The Zone Hitter turns the old ball on a rope into a real teaching station. The hitter swings at a ball on an arm, and a correct swing sends the ball spinning between two horizontal pads, through the zone. Casting, sweeping and pulling off the ball send it into the pads instead, so the hitter sees the result on every swing and can correct it right away.
A three position mounting bracket lets the coach set the station for hitting up the middle, pulling the ball or going the other way, and it switches from right handed to left handed in seconds. That makes it easy to teach correct contact points for inside, middle and outside pitches.
Swing Faults It Corrects
- Casting the hands away from the body
- Sweeping the bat around the ball
- Pulling off the ball with the front side
- Contact points too deep or too far out front for the pitch location
Drills to Try
- Middle of the field: set the bracket straight and drive the ball through the pads twenty times in a row.
- Inside pitch: move the bracket to the pull position and work on getting the barrel out front.
- Outside pitch: move to the opposite field position and let the ball travel deeper.
- Pitch location: pair with a Pitch Location Mat so hitters set their feet and contact point for each location.
Mounting
The Zone Hitter mounts to a post or pole, or to the Power Bag and Zone Hitter Stand, which holds the Zone Hitter and a Power Bag at the same time and rolls on wheels. It works well alongside the Pitch Location Mat, which marks foot position for each pitch location.
Pairs Well With
Add a Power Bag for contact strength, an Advanced Skills Tee for tee work, or step up to the Institutional Power Zone Hitting Station for team facilities.
