JUGS Baseball Backyard Net Package
The JUGS Baseball Backyard Net Package is a complete backyard batting cage for baseball players who already have a way to feed pitches, or who plan to add a pitching machine later. It includes a 65-foot JUGS #7 Backyard batting cage net, the galvanized steel outdoor frame built for it, a Standard L-shaped pitcher's screen, and a backdrop and pitcher's trainer. Together they give a baseball player a full-length place to hit, throw and take live arm batting practice at home.
The package is aimed at backyard players, youth league families and high school hitters. Buying the net, frame and screen together takes the guesswork out of matching sizes: the frame fits the net, and the screen is sized for a backyard cage.
A Full 65-Foot Baseball Batting Cage
The net is the JUGS #7 Backyard size, 65 feet long, 11 feet wide and 11 feet high. At 65 feet there is room for live arm batting practice from a realistic distance, soft toss and tee work at the hitting end, and a pitching machine with a screen in front of it. The 11-foot width and height keep the footprint reasonable for a backyard while containing line drives and foul tips.
The netting is twisted, knotted black polyethylene in the #27 twine gauge. Polyethylene does not absorb water, so it stands up to rain and humidity without rotting. Twisted netting has less surface area than braided netting, which lets balls spin and slide off and reduces abrasion on the twine. Black netting holds up better in the sun, and the line is treated for UV protection.
The net is hung on the square for baseball use, with 1 3/4 inch mesh, heavy-duty polypropylene rope borders on every edge including the vertical corners, and rib-line ropes down the middle that add suspension points and reduce sag. The netting is stretched under hydraulic tension during manufacturing to lock the knots and limit stretching or shrinking. A built-in Hitter's Door lets players walk in and out without lifting the net.
Galvanized Steel Outdoor Frame
The Outdoor Frame for Batting Cage #7 is what turns a net into a standing cage. Every piece of pipe is industrial-gauge galvanized steel, which resists rust in year-round outdoor use. The uprights and cross members are 2 inches in diameter and seat into 2 5/16 inch ground sleeves, which keep the cage steady when balls are hitting the net hard.
The frame comes with complete instructions and all the hardware needed for assembly, so a family can handle the job without special tools or a contractor. Because it is a large freight item, the frame ships separately from the net and screen. It cannot ship by 1, 2 or 3 day air; allow 12 to 20 days for the frame to arrive.
A Standard L-Shaped Pitcher's Screen
The JUGS Standard L-Shaped Pitchers Screen protects whoever is pitching, whether that is a parent throwing batting practice or a pitching machine. It stands 7 feet high and 7 feet wide with a 3 by 3 foot cutout in one corner. The pitcher throws through the open corner and steps behind the screen after release, while the rest of the screen stops line drives up the middle.
The netting is double-thick 45-ply Dacron polyester on a 1.5 inch diameter, 1.2 mm wall, 1020 cold-rolled steel frame. The joints are bolted, so assembly needs no welding or lacing, and the screen is light enough to move around the cage or out to a field.
Backdrop and Pitcher's Trainer
The JUGS Batting Cage Backdrop and Pitcher's Trainer hangs at the end of the cage. Hitters get a backstop behind the plate, and pitchers get a strike zone target for throwing sessions when no one is hitting. That makes the same cage useful on pitching days as well as hitting days.
Planning Your Backyard Cage
Before the frame arrives, pick a level spot with clear space a little beyond the 65 by 11 foot footprint, so you can walk around the cage and open the Hitter's Door. Look up as well as down: keep the cage away from power lines and tree limbs, and locate sprinkler lines and any buried utilities before setting the ground sleeves. Calling your local utility locating service before you dig is a sensible step for any backyard project.
Think about direction too. Many families put the hitting end nearest the house or patio, where it is easy to watch a session and quick to step in and out of the Hitter's Door. Leave room at the pitching end to store a ball basket and, later, a pitching machine behind the screen.
Adding a Pitching Machine
This package does not include a pitching machine, which keeps it flexible. Many families start with live arm batting practice and soft toss, then add a machine once a player is ready. The 65-foot length leaves room for any of the JUGS machines with the L-screen in front:
- The JUGS PS50 Pitching Machine, an introductory 15-50 mph machine for younger hitters.
- The JUGS MVP Combo Pitching Machine or the JUGS BP1 Combo Pitching Machine for steady fastballs at higher speeds.
- The JUGS mini3 Baseball Pitching Machine for fastballs and breaking balls up to 80 mph.
Who the JUGS Baseball Backyard Net Package Is For
- Baseball families building a home batting cage who want the net, frame and screen sized to work together.
- Youth league and high school players who need extra swings between team practices.
- Parents and coaches who throw live batting practice and want protection while doing it.
- Players who already own a pitching machine and need a cage to put it in.
Training in the Cage
Live arm batting practice is the simplest use: a parent or coach throws from behind the L-screen at a comfortable distance, and the hitter works on timing and barrel control. Soft toss and tee work fit at the plate end, where the backdrop catches the ball. On pitching days, a pitcher can throw to the backdrop's strike zone without a catcher, and the net contains anything that misses.
When a machine joins the setup, put it behind the L-screen at the pitching end and keep the screen in place whenever someone is hitting. A ball basket near the screen keeps the balls in reach between rounds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this package include a pitching machine?
No. It includes the net, frame, L-screen and backdrop. Add any JUGS machine separately; the 65-foot cage has room for a machine and screen at one end and the hitter at the other.
How much space do I need?
The cage is 65 feet long, 11 feet wide and 11 feet high. Plan for a level area slightly larger so you can walk around the frame and reach the Hitter's Door.
Will the netting hold up outdoors?
The net is polyethylene, which does not absorb water, and it is black for UV protection. The frame is galvanized steel to resist rust.
Does everything ship at the same time?
No. The frame is a freight item and ships separately; allow 12 to 20 days for it. It cannot ship by 1, 2 or 3 day air.
Is assembly difficult?
The frame comes with complete instructions and all hardware, and the L-screen bolts together without welding or lacing.
