JUGS Batting Cage Frames
JUGS Batting Cage Frames are galvanized steel outdoor frames for JUGS batting cage nets, built in all nine JUGS cage sizes for baseball and softball cages. Every piece of pipe is industrial-gauge galvanized steel, with 2 inch uprights and cross members that sit in 2 5/16 inch ground sleeves. The frame is made to carry a JUGS net of the same cage size, and netting is sold separately, so you choose the frame and the JUGS Batting Cage Net as a matched pair.
Netting is not included with the frame. Order the net separately in the same cage size, and choose the frame option that matches the twine gauge of that net.
Matching the JUGS Frame to Your Net
Two options set up your frame: the cage size and the frame option. The cage size must be the same number as your net. The frame option is labeled with the netting gauges it is built to carry, so read it straight from the gauge of the net you are buying:
- #1 Standard (70' x 14' x 12'), #2 Softball (55' x 14' x 12'), #7 Backyard (65' x 11' x 11') and #10 Fastpitch (55' x 12' x 12'): choose Fits #27 and #42 Nets for a #27 or #42 net, or Fits #60 and #96 Nets for a #60 or #96 net.
- #3 Slowpitch (55' x 14' x 16'), #8 Backyard Softball (55' x 11' x 11') and #9 Baseball (70' x 12' x 12'): choose Fits #42 Net for a #42 net, or Fits #60 and #96 Nets for a #60 or #96 net. These sizes are not offered in #27 netting.
- #4 Half (35' x 12' x 12') and #5 Combination (70' x 14' x 16'): one frame option, Fits #42, #60 and #96 Nets, carries any of those three gauges.
For example, a 55-foot fastpitch cage in #60 netting needs the #10 Fastpitch frame with the Fits #60 and #96 Nets option, plus the #10 Fastpitch net in #60 Polyethylene. If you are still deciding on a gauge, the nets page explains what each one suits, from the light #27 backyard twine to the #96 twine made for hitting facilities.
Galvanized Steel Built for Outdoor Cages
A batting cage frame lives outside all year, through rain, sun and freezing nights, so the material matters as much as the net. Galvanized steel carries a zinc coating that protects the steel underneath from rust, which keeps the frame looking and working right season after season. JUGS uses industrial-gauge galvanized steel for every piece of pipe in the frame, not only the main uprights.
The frames are designed for long-term outdoor use by teams, schools and serious home players, the kind of cage that stays up all season rather than coming down after each practice.
Ground Sleeves and Uprights for a Stable Cage
The 2 inch uprights fit into 2 5/16 inch diameter ground sleeves, which hold the frame steady during high-impact hitting and pitching. A stable frame keeps the net hanging evenly, so the tunnel holds its shape when line drives hit the walls and ceiling. The 2 inch cross members tie the uprights together across the top of the cage and carry the net along its length.
Because the uprights sit in sleeves, plan the site before the frame arrives. Choose level ground with enough room for the full cage length plus clearance around it, and check for buried utilities before digging.
Shipping and Lead Time
Frames ship by freight and cannot be sent by 1, 2 or 3 day air. Allow 12 to 20 days for the frame to arrive.
Who JUGS Batting Cage Frames Are For
- Backyard players and families building a permanent home baseball or softball cage.
- Youth leagues putting up a cage at the field or the practice complex.
- High school baseball and softball programs adding an outdoor tunnel.
- College programs that want a frame matched to a heavy #60 or #96 net.
- Anyone replacing a worn frame under an existing JUGS net of the same size.
Building a Complete Outdoor JUGS Cage
A full outdoor cage has three parts that you order separately:
- The frame in your cage size and the option that matches your gauge.
- The JUGS Batting Cage Net in the same cage size and gauge.
- Optional: the JUGS Outdoor Installation Kit, which lets you slide the net to one end of the frame when the cage is not in use, freeing up the space underneath.
Hanging a net indoors is a different job. Indoor cages do not use this frame; instead the JUGS Indoor Installation Kit or the JUGS Ceiling Installation Kit hangs the net on cables inside the building.
Inside the cage, a protective screen for the pitcher or machine feeder, such as the JUGS Protector Blue Series L-Shaped Pitcher's Screen or the JUGS Protector Blue Series C-Shaped Softball Screen, and a JUGS Batting Cage Backdrop and Pitcher's Trainer round out the setup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the frame include the net?
No. Netting is sold separately. Order a JUGS Batting Cage Net in the same cage size as the frame.
Which frame option do I need?
Pick the option labeled with your net's gauge. A #27 or #42 net uses Fits #27 and #42 Nets (or Fits #42 Net on the #3, #8 and #9 sizes), a #60 or #96 net uses Fits #60 and #96 Nets, and the #4 and #5 sizes have a single frame that carries #42, #60 or #96.
Can I use this frame for an indoor cage?
The frame is built for outdoor installs with ground sleeves. Indoor cages are usually hung on cables with the indoor or ceiling installation kit instead.
How long does the frame take to arrive?
Frames ship by freight and cannot go by 1, 2 or 3 day air. Allow 12 to 20 days for delivery.
What warranty comes with the frame?
All JUGS batting cage frames carry a 5-year warranty.
