Pro 4x7 Head Saver Front Toss Screen
Tired of ducking line drives during in cage batting practice? The Pro 4x7 Head Saver Front Toss Screen is a padded front toss screen with a built in head protector: an angled section of net over the top that covers the coach's head and shoulders. The frame is built from 2 inch steel tubing with a compression bolting system, it carries a #96 net, one of the heaviest nets used on any protective screen, that slips on pillowcase style for double protection, and thick 1.5 inch padding with a vinyl wrap covers the frame.
Choose from seven pad colors (black, red, green, light blue, blue, dark blue and yellow) and order it with no wheels or with the 2 inch Pro Wheel Kit.
Protection Over the Top
Most front toss screens stop at about head height, so a coach who stands up to toss is exposed to any ball that comes back high. The head protector angles net out over the top of the screen, so the coach can stand, toss and recover without the head and shoulders hanging out above the frame. It is the screen to choose when the coach tosses standing up or when hitters are strong enough to drive balls back on a line.
Made for the Batting Cage
The tall, narrow footprint fits inside a batting cage with plenty of room for the hitter, and it is the right shape for front toss, short toss and machine feeding at close range. The coach tosses from beside the screen and steps behind the net and under the head protector after each toss.
Strong Frame, Heavy Net, Thick Padding
The 2 inch steel tubing frame is joined with a compression bolting system that keeps every joint tight, and additional gussets on the legs and cross joints make it one of the strongest frames available for this kind of screen. The #96 net covers the front and back of the frame like a pillowcase. The 1.5 inch vinyl wrapped padding protects the net where it meets the frame and softens balls that hit the steel, so fewer balls bounce back at the coach.
Ways to Use It
- Front toss from a standing position
- Short toss and overhand toss from close range in the cage
- Feeding a pitching machine
- Protecting a coach during station work in a crowded facility
Who It Is For
- High school, college and travel baseball programs that throw front toss every day
- Hitting instructors and training facilities
- High volume programs that want the heaviest frame and net available in a head saver
- Teams that want screens in their colors
Front Toss Safety Tips
- Toss from beside the screen and get your body back behind the net right away.
- Stay under the head protector as you recover from each toss.
- Keep the screen close to you; the farther you stand from it, the more of you is exposed.
- Keep a bucket of balls behind the screen so you never reach out past the frame.
Wheels
The 2 inch Pro Wheel Kit, with airless tires and a steel plate cover, is available but not included in the base price. It bolts to the base so one coach can tip the screen back and roll it in and out of the cage. Choose it if the screen moves every practice.
Setup and Use
Bolt the frame sections and head protector together and tighten each joint until snug. Slide the net over the frame from the top and pull it down evenly so both layers sit flat and tight. Set the screen on level ground in the cage, a short distance in front of the hitter. Recheck the hardware periodically during the season.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a head saver screen?
It is a front toss screen with an angled net over the top that protects the coach's head and shoulders while tossing from close range.
How is this different from the Premium and Varsity Head Savers?
The Pro Head Saver uses a heavier 2 inch frame and a #96 net. Premium and Varsity head savers use 1.5 inch frames and lighter nets.
Will it fit in my batting cage?
Yes. At 4 feet wide and 7 feet tall, it fits in a standard batting cage with room for the hitter.
Can I choose a pad color?
Yes: black, red, green, light blue, blue, dark blue or yellow.
Do I need the wheel kit?
If the screen moves in and out of the cage or between cages every practice, the wheel kit makes it a one person job. If it lives in one cage all season, you can skip it and add wheels later.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes. It is built for batting practice indoors or out. Store it out of standing water in the offseason to extend its life.
