About the Premium 7x7 Sock Net Screen
The Premium 7x7 Sock Net Screen is a padded hitting screen built for batting practice, soft toss and tee work. The frame is 1.5 inch powder coated steel with a compression bolt together design, and one piece frame padding wraps the steel so balls that hit the frame do not ricochet hard back toward the hitter.
The UV weather treated #60 knotted net slips over the frame pillowcase style, and the sock target area measures 53 inches wide by 49 inches high. A welded gusset on each leg adds strength and long life.
What a Sock Net Screen Does
A sock net screen is a square protective screen with a deep net pocket hanging in the middle of the frame. Hitters drive balls into the pocket during tee work, soft toss and front toss, and the pocket catches the ball and drops it at the base of the screen instead of sending it back toward the hitter. That makes it a hitting station and a protective screen in one piece of equipment. Coaches set it up behind a tee in the cage, on the side of the infield for pregame soft toss, or in a gym for indoor hitting when the weather turns.
Why Choose the Padded Premium
Frame padding protects the screen and the people around it. Balls that catch the edge of the frame lose speed in the padding, the steel is protected from dings, and the screen holds up to the volume of hitting a team puts through it in a season. It is the step up from the Varsity screen for programs that use the screen every day.
Ways to Use It
- Tee work: set a tee a few feet in front of the screen and drive line drives into the pocket.
- Soft toss: the feeder tosses from the side while the hitter drives the ball into the pocket.
- Short front toss: the screen stops balls that are hit back up the middle at a short feeding distance.
- Pregame warm ups: set it up along the fence so hitters get loose swings without chasing balls.
Wheel Kit Options
The wheel kit mounts on the base of the frame so one coach can roll the screen on and off the field or around a facility. The Standard Wheel Kit uses smooth plate wheels; the Pro Wheel Kit uses airless tread tires that never go flat, with steel plates that protect the bearings and hub. Both are also sold on their own as the Varsity 1.5" Field Screen Wheels and the Pro 2" Field Screen Wheels.
Keep It in Service
When the net wears out, the 7x7 Sock Net Replacement Net #60 fits this frame. Close small holes with the Batting Cage and Screen Net Repair Kit, and store the screen out of standing water in the off season.
