Premium 7x7 L Screen

$348.00

Premium 7x7 L Screen

The Premium 7x7 L Screen is a padded, full size baseball L screen that works on the mound and in the cage. The frame is 7 feet wide and 7 feet tall, built from 1.5 inch powder coated steel with a compression bolt together design. A UV treated #60 braided net slips over the frame pillowcase style for two layers of protection, and one piece UV treated padding covers the frame to protect the net and keep balls from ricocheting off bare steel.

The 7x7 size gives a coach plenty of room to throw behind and still fits inside most batting cages. Choose from seven pad colors and order it with no wheels, the Standard Wheel Kit or the Pro Wheel Kit.

A Full Size L Screen With Padding

A 7x7 screen gives the coach a wide wall of net on the glove side and a comfortable throwing lane through the cutout. The padding is what sets the Premium line apart from a standard screen. It covers the frame where the net rubs, which is where nets wear through first, and it absorbs the hit when a ball strikes the frame instead of the net. Fewer balls come back toward the coach, and the net lasts longer.

Strong, Square Frame

The 1.5 inch powder coated steel frame bolts together, and the compression design keeps every joint tight so the screen stays square and the net stays taut. A gusset is welded onto each leg for strength where large screens usually start to bend. The powder coat finish stands up to outdoor use.

UV Treated #60 Braided Net

The #60 braided net is UV and weather treated, and it slides over the frame like a pillowcase so there is net on both the front and back of the screen. That double layer adds protection for the coach behind the screen.

Mound or Cage

Many programs end up buying one screen for the cage and another for the field. The 7x7 size handles both: it gives real coverage for full field batting practice and leaves room to move inside a standard cage.

Who the Premium 7x7 L Screen Is For

  • High school and travel baseball programs throwing batting practice on the field and in the cage
  • Coaches who want a padded screen without the weight of a 2 inch frame
  • Training facilities with standard cage tunnels
  • Teams that want screens in their colors

Pick Your Team Color

The padding comes in seven colors: black, red, green, light blue, blue, dark blue and yellow. Matching screens to school or team colors is a small thing, but it makes a practice field or facility look organized and professional, and it makes it easy to tell which screens belong to which team when several programs share a facility.

Choosing a Wheel Option

A padded steel screen is not something you want to carry across a field every day. The wheel kits bolt to the base so one person can tip the screen back and roll it. The Pro Wheel Kit uses airless tires with steel plate covers, so there is nothing to go flat. The Standard Wheel Kit is the lower cost way to make the screen mobile. If your screen will stay in one cage all season, you can skip wheels and add them later.

Setup and Use

Bolt the frame sections together and tighten each joint until snug. Slide the net over the frame from the top and pull it down evenly so both layers sit flat and tight. Set the screen on level ground in front of the throwing spot with the cutout on your throwing arm side. Retighten the hardware periodically during the season. Keep balls organized at the mound with a Pro Baseball Ball Cart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a 7x7 L screen fit in my batting cage?

It fits most standard 12 foot wide cages with room on each side. Measure your cage first if it is narrower than standard.

What is the difference between Premium and Varsity screens?

Both use a 1.5 inch powder coated steel frame and a #60 net. The Premium screen adds one piece frame padding and a braided net.

What is the difference between Premium and Pro screens?

Pro screens use a heavier 2 inch frame and a #96 net with vinyl wrapped padding. Premium screens are lighter and easier to move, with a #60 net.

Can I choose a pad color?

Yes: black, red, green, light blue, blue, dark blue or yellow.

Do I need the wheel kit?

If you move the screen between the field and the cage every practice, yes. A steel 7x7 screen is heavy to carry. If it stays in one spot, skip it.
