Premium 6x4 Safety Screen

$269.00

Premium 6x4 Safety Screen

The Premium 6x4 Safety Screen is a padded front toss screen for baseball. It stands 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide on a 1.5 inch powder coated steel frame with a compression bolt together design, with a UV treated #60 braided net that slips on pillowcase style and one piece UV treated padding around the frame. It is narrow enough to move easily and tall enough to keep a coach covered while tossing to hitters from close range.

Choose from seven pad colors and order it with no wheels, the Standard Wheel Kit or the Pro Wheel Kit.

Made for Front Toss

Front toss puts the coach much closer to the hitter than batting practice does, so a hard hit ball gets back to the screen almost instantly. A safety screen gives the coach a tall wall of net to toss beside and step behind. Its narrow 4 foot width keeps the coach close to the screen and leaves room in the cage for the hitter.

Padding Protects the Net and the Coach

Close range work means a lot of balls hit the frame. On a bare steel screen, those balls bounce hard back toward the coach, and the net wears through where it rubs the frame. The one piece padding on the Premium Safety Screen softens those hits and protects the net at its weakest point.

Solid Frame and Double Layer Net

The 1.5 inch powder coated steel frame bolts together with compression joints that stay tight, and a gusset is welded onto each leg. The UV treated #60 braided net covers both the front and back of the frame, so a ball that stretches through the front layer still has a second layer to get through.

Ways to Use It

  • Front toss and short toss in the batting cage
  • Protecting a coach feeding a pitching machine
  • A second screen during station work so two coaches can feed at once
  • Protecting a fielder or coach at a base during drills

Who the Premium 6x4 Safety Screen Is For

This screen is built for high school and travel baseball programs, hitting instructors and training facilities that run front toss every day, and for parents with a backyard cage who want a padded screen in a team color.

Front Toss Safety Tips

  • Toss from beside the screen, then move the tossing hand and your body back behind the net right away.
  • Kneel or sit on a bucket to keep more of your body behind the screen.
  • Keep the screen close to you. The farther you stand from it, the more of you is exposed.
  • Start hitters at a slower pace and work up as they settle into the drill.
  • Replace or repair the net as soon as you see a hole larger than a ball.

Choosing a Wheel Option

A padded steel screen is not something you want to carry across a field every day. The wheel kits bolt to the base so one person can tip the screen back and roll it. The Pro Wheel Kit uses airless tires with steel plate covers, so there is nothing to go flat. The Standard Wheel Kit is the lower cost way to make the screen mobile. If your screen will stay in one cage all season, you can skip wheels and add them later.

Pick Your Team Color

The padding comes in seven colors: black, red, green, light blue, blue, dark blue and yellow. Matching screens to school or team colors is a small thing, but it makes a practice field or facility look organized and professional, and it makes it easy to tell which screens belong to which team when several programs share a facility.

Setup and Use

Bolt the frame together and tighten each joint. Slide the net over the frame from the top and pull it down evenly. Set the screen on level ground in front of you, toss from beside it, and step back behind the net after each toss. Keep a bucket of balls behind the screen so you are never reaching out past the frame. Check the hardware periodically during the season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this screen low and wide or tall and narrow?

It is tall and narrow: 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide. The coach tosses from beside it and steps back behind the net.

How is it different from the Varsity Safety Screen?

The Premium screen adds one piece padding on the frame and a braided net. The Varsity screen has a bare frame.

Can I use it for overhand batting practice?

It is built for front toss and short toss. For overhand batting practice, an L screen gives a better throwing lane.

What pad colors are available?

Black, red, green, light blue, blue, dark blue and yellow.

Will it hold up outdoors?

Yes. The net and padding are UV treated and the steel is powder coated.
