Premium 5x7 L Screen

$280.00

Premium 5x7 L Screen

The Premium 5x7 L Screen is a padded baseball L screen sized for the batting cage. The frame is 5 feet wide and 7 feet tall, built from 1.5 inch powder coated steel with a compression bolt together design, and it carries a UV treated #60 braided net that slips over the frame pillowcase style for two layers of protection. One piece UV treated padding wraps the frame, so the net lasts longer and balls that hit the frame do not come flying back at the coach.

It is the step up from an unpadded screen without jumping to a heavy 2 inch frame. Choose from seven pad colors (black, red, green, light blue, blue, dark blue and yellow) and order it with no wheels, the Standard Wheel Kit or the Pro Wheel Kit.

Padding Is the Difference

On an unpadded screen, the net rubs directly against bare steel, and that is where nets wear through first. Every ball that hits the frame also comes back hard and fast. The Premium 5x7 L Screen covers the frame with one piece padding that is UV treated for outdoor use. It protects the net at its weakest point, softens balls that hit the frame, and gives the screen a clean, finished look in your team color.

Built for Daily Cage Work

The 1.5 inch powder coated steel frame bolts together, and the compression design pulls each joint tight so the frame stays square. A gusset is welded onto each leg, which is where L screens usually start to bend after a season of being dragged across turf. The powder coat finish holds up to sun, rain and the humidity of an indoor facility.

Double Layer #60 Braided Net

The UV treated #60 braided net slides over the frame like a pillowcase, which puts netting on both the front and back of the screen. When a line drive stretches the front layer, the back layer is still there. A #60 net is a strong all around choice for high school and travel baseball batting practice.

Why a 5x7 L Screen

The 5 foot width fits inside any standard batting cage tunnel with room on both sides, so balls do not get trapped between the frame and the cage net. It is also light enough to move in and out of the cage every day. The 7 foot height covers a coach standing tall behind the screen, and the L cutout gives the throwing arm a clean lane to the plate.

Who the Premium 5x7 L Screen Is For

  • High school and travel baseball programs throwing batting practice in a cage
  • Training facilities that want padded screens in every tunnel
  • Coaches and parents with a backyard cage who want more protection than a bare frame
  • Teams that want screens in their school colors

Choosing a Wheel Option

A padded steel screen is not something you want to carry across a field every day. The wheel kits bolt to the base so one person can tip the screen back and roll it. The Pro Wheel Kit uses airless tires with steel plate covers, so there is nothing to go flat. The Standard Wheel Kit is the lower cost way to make the screen mobile. If your screen will stay in one cage all season, you can skip wheels and add them later.

Setup and Use

Bolt the frame sections together and tighten each joint until it is snug. Slide the net over the frame from the top and pull it down evenly so both layers sit flat and tight. Set the screen in front of the throwing spot with the cutout on your throwing arm side. Recheck the hardware every few weeks during the season. Keep balls within reach behind the screen with a Pro Baseball Ball Cart.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Premium screen different from a Varsity screen?

Both use a 1.5 inch powder coated steel frame and a #60 net. The Premium screen adds one piece padding on the frame and uses a braided net, which protects the net and reduces balls bouncing back off the steel.

Will it fit in my batting cage?

Yes. At 5 feet wide and 7 feet tall, it fits in a standard batting cage tunnel with room to spare.

Can I choose a pad color?

Yes. The padding comes in black, red, green, light blue, blue, dark blue and yellow.

Do I need wheels?

If the screen moves between the cage, the field and storage, wheels make it a one person job. If it stays in one cage, choose no wheels.

Can I use it outdoors?

Yes. The net and padding are UV treated and the frame is powder coated for outdoor use. Store it out of standing water in the offseason to extend its life.
