Portable 4x7 Safety Screen with Travel Bag

Portable 4x7 Safety Screen with Travel Bag

The Portable 4x7 Safety Screen is a lightweight, travel ready protective screen that sets up in about 90 seconds. It is a true 4 foot by 7 foot net with no dip or sag at the top, held up by 1 inch fiberglass poles on a 1.5 inch powder coated steel base. It packs into a heavy duty travel bag, so it goes wherever your team practices.

Sets Up in About 90 Seconds

Steel screens are strong, but they are heavy and they do not fit in a car. The Portable Safety Screen is built for teams that practice in different places every week. Assemble the base, insert the fiberglass poles, stretch the net into place and you are ready, in about a minute and a half. Breaking it down takes about the same.

Stays Up and Stays Tight

Portable screens are known for sagging at the top and blowing over in the wind. This one is different. The bottom of the frame is 1.5 inch powder coated steel tubing with welded gussets on the legs, which gives it a heavy, stable base that nothing short of high winds will move. Ground stakes are included for windy fields. The 1 inch fiberglass poles hold the net tight across the full 4 by 7 foot opening, with no dip at the top.

Handles Hard Contact

The net is rated to withstand exit velocities up to 100 mph, and the screen stays standing when heavy balls are hit into it. That makes it suitable for front toss and short toss with older hitters, not just youth practice.

Ways to Use It

  • Front toss and short toss at practice or before games
  • Travel ball tournaments and away fields
  • A backyard batting cage that needs a screen you can put away
  • Protecting a coach feeding a pitching machine
  • Indoor practices in gyms where a steel screen will not fit

Who the Portable Safety Screen Is For

It is built for travel baseball teams, coaches who move between fields, parents who want a screen in the backyard that packs away, and any team that needs a second screen without adding another heavy steel frame to the shed.

Portable Screen vs Steel Screen

A full steel screen with padding is the best choice for a field or facility where the screen stays put. A portable screen trades some of that weight for convenience: it is easy to carry, sets up fast and fits in a vehicle. Many teams keep a steel screen at home and a portable screen in the equipment bag. For heavier options, see all front toss screens.

Front Toss Safety Tips

  • Toss from beside the screen and get your body back behind the net right away.
  • Kneel or sit to keep more of your body behind the net.
  • Stake the base down on windy days.
  • Keep balls in a bucket behind the screen so you never reach out past the frame.

Built for Travel Ball

Travel teams practice wherever they can get field time: a school field one night, a park the next, a facility before a tournament. Hauling a steel screen to every one of those places is not realistic. The Portable Safety Screen packs into its bag and rides in the trunk with the rest of the team gear, so the coach throwing front toss is protected at every practice, not just the home field.

Caring for Your Portable Screen

Let the net dry before packing it away after a wet practice. Check the fiberglass poles for cracks and the net for holes before each season, and repair small holes right away. Keep all of the parts together in the travel bag so nothing goes missing between fields.

Setup and Use

Assemble the steel base, insert the fiberglass poles and attach the net, then pull it tight across the frame. On grass, push the included ground stakes through the base to hold it in place. To pack up, reverse the steps and load everything into the travel bag.
