About the Markwort Pro Style Stanchion-Mounted Home Plate
The Markwort Pro Style Home Plate is an official 17 inch rubber baseball home plate with a steel plate on the back that mounts on a stanchion, the same anchored approach used for pro-style bases. The white playing surface is framed by a black beveled edge, which brings the overall width to 19 1/2 inches. It is built for game fields that run anchored hardware.
Pro Style Plate or Bury-All Plate?
We also carry the Bury-All Baseball Home Plate, and the two hold their position in different ways. A bury-all is a one-piece plate with a 3 1/2 inch high body that is set into the ground and packed in place, so the plate's own mass does the work. The Pro Style plate is a rubber top backed by steel, and a stanchion seated in an anchor holds it instead. Choose the bury-all for a simple permanent installation with no anchor. Choose the Pro Style plate when your field already uses anchored bases or you want a steel-backed plate seated on an anchor. Either way, set the plate level and flush with the batter's box, and check the point toward the pitcher's rubber before packing the clay. If you are fitting it to an existing anchor, measure the receptacle first, since anchor sizes are not universal.
