JUGS Big Blue Bucket of Youth League Pearl Baseballs, 6 Dozen

The JUGS Big Blue Bucket of Youth League Pearl Baseballs packs 6 dozen (72) Youth League Pearl leather baseballs into a heavy-duty 6-gallon bucket with a snap-on lid and carrying handle. The Youth League Pearl is a regulation 9-inch, 5-ounce leather baseball designed specifically for young players and pitching machines. It gives youth baseball hitters a true leather ball to swing at in machine batting practice, and gives coaches enough balls to keep a full roster of hitters moving through the cage.

The same Youth League Pearl baseball also comes in a 4-dozen Bucket of JUGS Youth League Pearl Baseballs. The Big Blue Bucket is the 72-ball version.

A Leather Youth Baseball Made for Pitching Machines

Youth league practices lean heavily on pitching machines, and that means the same baseballs go through the wheels again and again. The Youth League Pearl is built for that work. It has a full grain leather cover over a cushion-corked center, so hitters get a real leather baseball feel off the bat and fielders handle a ball that behaves like a game ball on machine-fed grounders and fly balls.

The seam is stitched with Kevlar using JUGS Never-Break seam technology. Stitching is usually the first thing to fail on a leather baseball that lives in a machine, and a seam built to hold together keeps more balls in the bucket and fewer in the discard pile over a season of youth baseball practices.

Reinforced Low-Seam Design for Smooth Feeding

The Youth League Pearl uses a reinforced low-seam design. A lower seam gives the machine wheels a more even surface to grip, which helps the ball feed smoothly and come out on a more accurate line. For young hitters who are still learning to time a pitch, a machine that repeats the same pitch is what makes batting practice productive. The seam also gives players a good grip when they field and throw the ball back in.

The Big Blue Bucket

The 72 baseballs ship in the JUGS Big Blue bucket, a 6-gallon bucket made from extra-thick plastic that is built not to crack or warp:

  • A snap-on lid that goes on and comes off easily and keeps balls secure in storage or between fields.
  • A durable metal carrying handle with a plastic grip for comfortable carrying when the bucket is full.
  • Heavy-duty walls that stand up to being tossed in the back of a car and set down beside the cage every practice.

For a youth coach, one lidded bucket that holds every practice ball makes setup and cleanup faster and makes it easy to see when balls go missing.

Who the JUGS Big Blue Bucket of Youth League Pearl Baseballs Is For

The Youth League Pearl is aimed at backyard players, youth leagues and high schools. It is a good fit for:

  • Youth league coaches running pitching machine stations at team practice.
  • Recreation and travel programs that share a supply of machine balls across several teams.
  • High school baseball programs looking for a leather machine ball for batting practice.
  • Families with a home cage and a baseball pitching machine.

Using Youth League Pearls at Practice

  • Set up a machine station and let the coach feed while hitters rotate through rounds, using the full bucket so balls are not collected after every few pitches.
  • Use the same balls for machine-fed ground balls and fly balls during fielding work, since they play like leather game baseballs.
  • Rotate the whole bucket through each session so wear spreads evenly across all 72 balls.
  • Pull any ball with a damaged cover out of the machine rotation.
  • Keep a protective screen in front of the machine and the person feeding it, such as the JUGS Protector Series L-Shaped Screen.

A Back-Saver Portable Ball Basket is handy for coaches who also throw batting practice by hand, keeping balls within reach without bending to the bucket.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Youth League Pearls a smaller baseball?

No. Youth League Pearls are regulation 9-inch, 5-ounce leather baseballs, designed with young players and pitching machines in mind.

Do Youth League Pearls work in pitching machines?

Yes. They are designed specifically for pitching machines, with a reinforced low seam that helps them feed smoothly.

Can I use them for fielding drills too?

Yes. Because they are leather baseballs, they work for machine-fed and hand-hit fielding drills as well as batting practice.

Can Youth League Pearls be used in league games?

They are made for youth leagues and batting practice. Check your league's ball requirements before using any ball in competition, since approved ball lists differ by league and level.

How should I store them between practices?

Keep them in the Big Blue bucket with the lid snapped on, somewhere dry. That keeps all 72 balls together and off wet ground between sessions.

Is there a smaller bucket of the same ball?

Yes. The Bucket of JUGS Youth League Pearl Baseballs holds 4 dozen of the same ball.

What warranty comes with Youth League Pearls?

The Kevlar-stitched Never-Break seam carries a 1-year warranty covering normal wear and factory defects.
