JUGS Backyard Bullpen Pitching Target Package

$980.95

JUGS Backyard Bullpen Pitching Target Package

The JUGS Backyard Bullpen Pitching Target Package is a complete pitching command setup for baseball or softball pitchers who want to throw with purpose at home. It combines a 7 by 7 foot target screen with 12 strike zone pockets, a JUGS Radar Cube speed display on a tripod, a set of 15 Perfect Pitch training balls marked with counts and locations, six blank Mark'm-Up balls, a regulation-size home plate and a heavy-duty carry bag. Choose the Baseball version for baseballs or the Softball version for softballs.

The package is built to make a backyard bullpen session feel like a game. Pitchers see right away whether a pitch hit its spot, read their speed on a large LED display, and practice choosing the right pitch for the count. It suits backyard and youth league pitchers through high school and college players.

A 12-Pocket Target Screen for Pitch Location

The Backyard Bullpen screen is a 7 by 7 foot portable target with high-tension netting built to take repeated throws. Its 12 Hit-Your-Spot pockets are clearly labeled and represent quadrants of the strike zone, so a pitcher knows the moment the ball lands whether it went where it was intended. Instead of throwing at a general area, a pitcher aims at a specific pocket, which is the habit that carries into games.

The foldable frame is lightweight but stable, so the screen sets up and comes down quickly. It works in a backyard, at a field before practice or on a team trip, and it gives a pitcher something to throw at when there is no catcher available.

Real-Time Speed From the Radar Cube

The JUGS Radar Cube measures pitch speed from 32 to more than 100 mph and shows each reading on 3-inch red LED numbers that are easy to see from the mound, the dugout or the stands. Pitchers can track velocity during a session, and coaches can watch for the drop-off that signals fatigue.

Speed is most useful alongside location. A pitcher who sees both numbers at once learns to throw hard without giving up control, and to recognize when chasing velocity starts to cost strikes. The Radar Cube runs on six AA batteries, which are included, or on an optional AC adapter for continuous use. A collapsible, adjustable aluminum tripod holds the radar steady on grass, dirt or pavement.

Perfect Pitch Balls Teach Pitch Selection

The 15 Perfect Pitch balls in this package are regulation-size leather balls marked with a count and a pitch location. A pitcher pulls a ball, reads the situation, and has to execute that pitch to that spot. Working through the set turns a bullpen into a series of game situations, so pitchers learn which pitch belongs in which count and practice executing it under some pressure.

The balls have a full-grain leather cover with authentic seams for a game-like grip. Six Mark'm-Up balls are also included. They are blank versions of the Perfect Pitch balls, so a coach or player can write in custom pitch types and target zones, such as a sequence that matches a pitcher's own arsenal or a team's signs. For extra marked sets, see the JUGS Perfect Pitch Marked Training Baseballs or the JUGS Perfect Pitch Marked Training Softballs, each sold as a pre-marked 15-ball set.

Home Plate and Carry Bag

The included home plate is regulation size, 17 by 8.5 inches, with beveled edges. Set it in front of the target screen to give the pitcher an instant reference point and the same visual picture as a game mound. The heavy-duty zippered nylon bag holds the plate, balls and accessories, so the whole bullpen packs up and travels to any field or backyard.

Who the JUGS Backyard Bullpen Package Is For

  • Baseball and softball pitchers who want to work on command at home without a catcher.
  • Youth league pitchers learning to throw strikes to specific spots instead of just over the plate.
  • High school and college pitchers who want speed and location feedback in the same session.
  • Parents and pitching coaches who want a structured bullpen routine they can track over time.

Building a Backyard Bullpen Routine

Set the home plate in front of the target screen and measure back to the pitching distance used in the player's league, so every session matches the picture the pitcher sees on game day. Place the Radar Cube on its tripod where the pitcher and coach can both see the LED numbers, and keep the carry bag nearby to hold the balls between rounds.

Start each session with a warm-up, then throw to the corner pockets with fastballs only, noting how many land in the target pocket. Move to the Perfect Pitch balls: draw one, call out the count and pitch, and throw it. Keep a simple log of hits and misses by pocket so progress is measurable week to week.

Use the Radar Cube to set a speed band rather than chasing a top number. For example, a pitcher might work on hitting low pockets while staying within a few miles per hour of a normal fastball, then work on changing speeds with a slower pitch to the same spot. Finish with Mark'm-Up balls written for situations the pitcher struggles with, such as full counts or first-pitch strikes.

A bucket of game-like practice balls keeps a session going between Perfect Pitch rounds. Leather practice baseballs or seamed softballs work well for warm-up throws and fastball command work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Baseball and Softball versions?

The balls. The Baseball version comes with Perfect Pitch and Mark'm-Up baseballs, and the Softball version with Perfect Pitch and Mark'm-Up softballs.

Do I need a catcher to use it?

No. The 7 by 7 foot target screen catches the pitch and the 12 pockets show where it went, so a pitcher can throw a full bullpen alone.

What speeds does the Radar Cube read?

From 32 to more than 100 mph, shown on 3-inch red LED numbers that are readable from a distance.

How is the radar powered?

It runs on six AA batteries, which are included. An AC adapter is available as an option for continuous use.

How do the Perfect Pitch balls work?

Each ball is marked with a count and a pitch location. The pitcher draws a ball and throws that pitch to that spot, which builds pitch selection and command in game-like situations. The six blank Mark'm-Up balls let you write your own.

What warranty comes with the package?

The JUGS Backyard Bullpen Package carries a 1-year warranty on all parts, normal wear and factory defects.
