Heater Sports Crusher Curve Mini Lite-Ball Pitching Machine

$129.99

Heater Sports Crusher Curve Mini Lite-Ball Pitching Machine

The Heater Sports Crusher Curve is a small-ball pitching machine that throws fastballs and curveballs using mini lite-balls, which are about two-thirds smaller than a regulation baseball. The idea is simple: train a hitter to track and square up a much smaller ball, and a regulation baseball looks bigger and easier to read when they step in for real. Built around a dual-wheel pitching mechanism and a two-dozen automatic feeder, the Crusher Curve is a focused hand-eye coordination and pitch-recognition trainer for baseball players from 8 years old through adult. It is available on its own for plug-in use, or with one or two rechargeable batteries for portable training anywhere.

Why Train With Mini Lite-Balls

Small-ball training is a long-established way to sharpen pitch recognition, tracking, and contact precision. When a hitter consistently makes contact with a mini ball, the habit of picking up the ball early, reading its path, and driving the barrel to it carries over to regulation baseball pitches. Timing, hand-eye coordination, and reaction speed all get a workout in a way that standard batting practice does not always demand.

Mini lite-balls also solve a practical problem: space. A full-sized pitching machine firing real baseballs needs a batting cage, a big backyard, or a gym with a net. Mini lite-balls are soft, so the Crusher works in a garage, basement, driveway, or smaller backyard without the property-damage worries that come with real baseballs. Many hitters also find short-range work easier to focus on because there is less visual distraction than in a full hitting tunnel.

Dual Wheels Mean Real Curveballs

The Crusher Curve uses a dual-wheel pitching mechanism with a separate speed control for each wheel, which is the key hardware difference between this machine and single-wheel units. Set both wheel speeds equal and the machine throws a straight fastball. Speed one wheel up and slow the other down, and the mini ball leaves the machine with curveball rotation, breaking as it travels.

That is the same principle larger multi-wheel machines use to throw breaking pitches. On a mini-ball scale the visible break is easy to see, so a hitter has to read the pitch and adjust swing path and timing accordingly. For pitch recognition training, curveball work is the Crusher's standout feature.

Variable Speed Up to 40 MPH

The dual wheel speed controls top out at 40 MPH measured at 25 feet from the machine. A small ball at that speed from a short distance compresses the reaction window, so hitters have to be quick and precise. The variable speed dials also let you back off for younger hitters; an 8 year old just starting small-ball work benefits from a slower setting that builds confidence before moving toward the top end.

Two-Dozen Ball Feeder With Adjustable Timing

The Crusher's automatic feeder holds 24 mini lite-balls and drops them into the machine at a pace you set. A simple knob adjusts the time between pitches from 3 to 20 seconds. Three seconds is rapid-fire training for reaction time and swing recovery. Twenty seconds gives a hitter time to step out, reset, and approach each pitch deliberately. Most hitters settle somewhere in the middle for general batting practice, close to a real game pace between pitches.

A full 24-ball load empties in roughly a minute and a quarter at the fastest setting and about eight minutes at the slowest. Refilling is quick because the feeder is open at the top.

Adjustable Pitch Height for Different Pitch Locations

The pitch height adjusts to match any strike zone. Point the machine level for normal strike-zone work, angle it up for high pitches, or tilt it down for low strikes. Combined with the dual-wheel curveball adjustment and the speed dials, the height setting lets you build a practice session that mixes pitch locations and pitch types, which is closer to a real at-bat than a single-pitch machine can offer.

Safety and Indoor Use

The wheels are fully enclosed, which matters on a machine used by kids at close range because open wheels are a pinch hazard while loading balls. Combined with the soft mini lite-balls, that makes the Crusher a safe choice for indoor and outdoor practice. Garage setups and basement training stations are both practical. A ball off the bat can still sting, so keep a net or backstop behind the hitter.

Crusher Curve Battery Options: Plug In or Go Portable

Every Crusher Curve plugs into any standard 110V outlet with the included A/C power cord, and the machine has two built-in battery compartments for 6V Crusher rechargeable batteries. Choose the setup that fits where you train:

  • No Battery: the machine runs on the A/C power cord. The battery compartments are ready if you add a battery later.
  • 4 Hour Battery: includes one 6V Crusher rechargeable battery for up to 4 hours of portable use.
  • 8 Hour - Two Batteries: includes two 6V Crusher rechargeable batteries, one in each compartment, for up to 8 hours of portable use in total.

The batteries recharge inside the machine whenever it is plugged into a wall outlet, so there is no separate charger to keep track of. With battery power, the Crusher travels to a park, a field, or a tournament warm-up area where no outlet is available. If you start with the plug-in version, the same Crusher 6V rechargeable battery is sold separately.

Who the Crusher Curve Is For

The Crusher Curve fits a more specific audience than a general-purpose pitching machine. It is best for baseball players ages 8 through adult who already have basic swing mechanics and want a tool for pitch recognition, curveball tracking, and hand-eye sharpening. Youth players at the age where pitch recognition starts to limit their hitting get a big benefit. High school players use it for warm-up work and for sharpening their eyes before games, and older players use it in the off-season for the same reasons.

It is less useful for very young players still learning to track a ball at all, where a larger-ball machine like the Heater BaseHit is a better starting point. It is also not a batting cage substitute; it is a supplement to cage work, a focused hand-eye coordination drill, and a way to put in baseball reps without tying up a field.

Training Drills for the Crusher Curve

A few drills that make the most of the Crusher's dual-wheel capability:

Fastball-only tracking. Set both wheels equal and run a 24-ball round at moderate speed. Focus on contact, not power. This is the baseline drill that teaches the hitter to track the mini ball.

Curveball recognition. Set the wheels for a clear curveball break and run a 24-ball round at moderate speed. The goal is not to hit every pitch hard; it is to identify the pitch as a curve and either take it or adjust the swing. A high miss rate early is normal.

Mixed pitch sessions. Alternate fastball and curveball rounds with a short reset in between to change the wheel settings. Track which pitch type the hitter identifies correctly. This builds in-game pitch recognition faster than either pitch alone.

Timing ladder. Start at the slowest feeder interval and work down toward the fastest over a single round. Each pitch comes sooner than the last, which trains swing recovery and mental reset under time pressure.

Rapid-fire fastballs. Set the feeder to its fastest interval and the speed dials near the top. This reaction-time drill intentionally overloads the hitter so that game-speed baseball pitches feel more comfortable by comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this machine throw real baseballs?

No. The Crusher Curve is built specifically for mini lite-balls. For a Heater machine that throws real baseballs, look at the BaseHit for fastballs or the Pro Curve for a real-ball dual-wheel machine.

How realistic is the curveball?

The ball is smaller than a baseball, so the physics are not identical to a pitcher's curveball, but the dual-wheel spin produces a clear, visible break that a hitter has to read. For pitch recognition training at home, that is the point.

Which battery option should I choose?

If you will always train near an outlet, No Battery is all you need. The 4 Hour Battery option covers most single sessions away from power, such as a trip to the park. The 8 Hour - Two Batteries option suits long practice days, team use, or tournament weekends where the machine runs for hours without an outlet.

How do the batteries charge?

They charge inside the machine. Leave the batteries in their compartments and plug the Crusher into a standard wall outlet with the included A/C power cord.

Can I use it in my garage?

Yes, with reasonable precautions. The mini lite-balls are soft and the wheels are enclosed. Set the machine at one end of the garage, the hitter at the other, and use a net or backstop to catch balls that get past the hitter.

What age is this appropriate for?

The recommended range is 8 years to adult. Recreational youth players use it as a pitch recognition trainer, while older players use it for timing and warm-up work.
