G Tee Lite Batting Tee

The G Tee Lite Batting Tee is the travel model in the line: a 5 lb baseball and softball tee on a 9 in x 9 in (23cm x 23cm) high-density polyethylene base, carrying the same telescoping upright and rubber cup as the heavier G Tees. It is built for the player who takes a tee to the field, the cage and the road, and for coaches who need several tees moved by one person.

Five Pounds Is the Whole Argument

Weight is the reason this model exists. At 5 lb complete, the Lite goes into a bat bag, one person carries three of them, and setting up does not involve dragging a weighted base out of a trunk. Kelsey Stewart of Team USA has described breaking a G Tee down into her bat bag while travelling, and Megan Willis of the USSSA Florida Pride makes the same point about a tee that has to move constantly. Crystl Bustos, who runs camps and clinics, cites the same thing: it travels.

The trade is stability under heavy contact. The Lite base takes no weight post, so a hitter who drives the inside corner hard or trains on slick indoor surfaces is better served by the G Tee Classic Batting Tee and its optional 10 lb plate, or by the stainless steel base on the G Tee Pro Batting Tee.

Nothing Given Up on Adjustment

Losing weight did not cost the height range. The Lite runs the same telescoping upright as every other G Tee, in the same three sizes: 18 in to 30 in (46cm to 76cm), 22 in to 41 in (56cm to 104cm), and 26 in to 53 in (66cm to 135cm). Seals and bushings inside the upright hold the set height through a round, which matters more on a travel tee than a stationary one, since a tee that drifts on the road has nobody standing by to reset it.

The Rubber Cup

The flexible rubber cup absorbs contact rather than resisting it, giving a hitter honest feel and sound at impact. It wears like any rubber part and is replaced on its own rather than with the tee.

Built in Florida, Repairable Everywhere

Machined stainless steel and aluminum on a patented design, made in Ocala, Florida since 2009, with every component stocked separately. A two year warranty covers parts and labor.

Who This G Tee Lite Batting Tee Is For

Travel baseball and softball players and their parents, who move equipment constantly. Players training away from home. Instructors running lessons in rented cage space that has to be cleared afterward. Coaches buying several tees for a station rotation, where the weight of the whole set matters more than any one tee. A program hitting daily off one fixed tee will get more out of the Classic or Pro.

Training Applications

  • Road work: pregame swings at the field without hauling a full setup.
  • Station rotations, where three or four Lite tees move as easily as one heavy tee.
  • Lessons in shared cage space with a hard setup and teardown window.
  • Height ladder drills through the upright's telescoping range.
  • Backyard practice for younger hitters who can set the tee up themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it actually fit in a bat bag?

The upright separates from the base in seconds, and at 5 lb the two pieces go into a normal bat bag. That is the use players describe most often.

Is it stable enough for a full swing?

For ordinary tee work, yes. It is the lightest base G Tee makes, so hitters attacking the inside corner at full speed, or working on polished indoor floors, should step up to the Classic with its weight plate or the Pro's steel base.

Can I add a weight to the Lite base?

No. The Lite base does not accept a weight post. That is the deliberate difference between it and the Classic.

Does it work for softball?

Yes. The cup takes a softball or a baseball, and the upright range covers both strike zones.

Can I hit low pitches?

To the upright's minimum on its own, and below that with the G Tee Low Ball Attachments.
