About the Batting Cage Cable Kit
The Batting Cage Cable Kit hangs a batting cage net from steel cables instead of a frame. Stretch the cables between solid anchor points, such as building beams, walls or posts, then clip the net to the cables. It is the setup most indoor training facilities use, because the cage takes up no floor space outside the net and can be pulled to one side when the space is needed for something else. It also works outdoors between sturdy posts.
Choosing a Length
- 55 ft: for batting cage nets up to 55 ft long
- 70 ft: for batting cage nets from 55 ft up to 70 ft long
Pick the length that matches or is longer than your net.
What Is Included
- Galvanized steel support cable
- Turnbuckles to tension each cable
- Cable clamps to finish the cable ends
- Snap hooks to clip the net to the cables
Not included: the batting cage net and the structure you attach the cables to. Use anchor points that are rated to hold the tension of a tight cable.
Why Use a Cable System
- No frame poles inside the cage, so there is nothing for a ball to ricochet off
- The net can slide back on the snap hooks to open up the floor for team drills, agility work or storage
- Fits buildings, barns, garages and indoor facilities where a free standing frame will not fit
- A good way to hang a net that came without a frame
Choosing a Net
Most cable systems use a net that matches the cable length. The #36 Standard Batting Cage Net is a mid-weight net for backyard and team use, and the #45 Pro Series Batting Cage Net is a heavier net for programs that hit every day. Measure the length, width and height you have room for, then choose a net that leaves a little space above and to the sides so it does not rub on walls or ceiling.
Installing the Cables
- Pick anchor points at each end of the cage at the height you want the top of the net.
- Run the cables the length of the cage, one along each top edge of the net and one down the center if your net is wide.
- Attach each cable with a turnbuckle at one end so you can tighten it after the net is hung.
- Finish the cable ends with the clamps, then clip the top of the net to the cables with the snap hooks.
- Tighten the turnbuckles until the cables are straight and the net hangs evenly.
If you are attaching to a building, have a contractor confirm the structure can carry the load before you install.
Finishing the Cage
Hang a 4x6 Canvas Batting Cage Backdrop behind the hitter to protect the back of the net, add a Batting Cage Divider Net 14x12 to split one long cage into two hitting stations, and keep a Batting Cage and Screen Net Repair Kit on hand for small holes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this kit include a net?
No. The cable kit hangs a net you already own or buy separately.
Will it work with a net from another brand?
Yes. Any batting cage net up to the length of the kit can be clipped to the cables with the snap hooks.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes, between solid posts set in the ground. Outdoors, check the cable tension at the start of each season.
Do I need a cable kit if I buy a frame?
No. A frame holds the net up on its own. A cable kit is the alternative when you have a building or posts to hang from.
